LADWP Board of Commissioners Propose ‘Cool LA’ Assistance Program to Help Customers During Extreme Heat
“Let’s be clear, no one living in the City of Los Angeles should be allowed to suffer a heat-related death or suffer a major health-related emergency triggered by extreme heat. We know the risks."
As we do every day, I join the board and the department in proudly standing behind our employees for whom Pride Month means the most. We celebrate everyone’s dedication to our city, particularly those employees who identify as LGBTQIA+, and all that they do for our customers and the department.
During AAPI Heritage Month, may we all reflect, find joy, and stay hopeful. And to all of our AAPI employees and communities, we celebrate you and thank you for your resilient spirit and your work in the service of a stronger LA and a better nation.
LADWP, Council District 9 and Department of Recreation and Parks Break Ground on New Park in South Los Angeles
“This park rightly honors the legacy and service of the late Senator Bill Greene who fought for civil rights, and will provide an important community benefit to nearby residents that can be enjoyed for years to come.”
We at your DWP are working to chart a course toward building an even stronger L.A., through service, innovation, and opportunity.
Here at LADWP, we need to continue to break the bias. We need to consistently show our commitment to women by uplifting, supporting and respecting them so much so that having an all-female board is no longer unusual, that the term “women in non-traditional roles" becomes a misnomer, and no one bats an eye at the sight of a female lineworker or heavy duty truck operator.

LADWP Board of Water and Power Commissioners Approves $5 Million Research Partnership to work with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
"These nationally recognized research institutions that also have a strong tradition of empowering African Americans who were historically excluded from higher education opportunities. As LADWP looks to become a more inclusive organization, this is a significant partnership.”
LADWP is committed to diversifying our workforce to ensure African Americans have greater access to roles throughout our entire organization, particularly at the leadership level.
